TEACHER PREPARATION COURSE (TPC)
INTRODUCTION
Teacher preparation course (TPC) is one year teacher-training prorgramme that is designed to prepare trained teachers for teaching at the basic level (Grade 1-8) of school education. It provides an opportunity for 10+2 or Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) graduates from any discipline other than Education to be trained teachers and to pave the way for persuading Bachelor's Degree in Education. This course is equivalent to the first year course of B.Ed. programme. Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible to teach at the basic level (Grade 1-8) level as trained teachers. After completion of this course, they can also get admission in the second year of the three year B.Ed. Programme.
OBJECTIVES
This programme has the following objectives.
· To prepare professionally trained teachers required for the lower secondary schools of Nepal
· To provide a basis for further training in teacher education
· To provide an opportunity for the TPC graduate to continue their education in second and third year of the B.Ed. Programme even after several years of completion of the TPC
Structure of the Course
The courses of this pogramme can be classified into three major categories, viz. Professional Courses which carry 300 full marks, Specialization Courses including Elective Course which carry 200 full marks and obligatory non-credit Courses containing Teaching Practice and Introduction to Pedagogy which carry 50 marks each.
