"We strive to make our programmes research-driven, practice-based and technology enhanced. Come and be a part of our endeavour."
The progress and prosperity of any nation depends upon the preparation of quality human resources. Good education system produces good citizens. Similarly, the quality teacher education programmes results in quality teachers. The quality of an educational system depends upon the quality of teachers and if the latter is poor, the quality of the former would also fall down. At the same time, quality in education depends upon the commitment and competencies on the part of teachers, instructional strategies, infrastructure, testing procedures, etc. Hence, we are committed to produce trained teachers. Moreover, the quality in education demands a serious theoretical understanding of the same, age-old questions: Why to teach? What to teach? And, how to teach? Our programmes focus on all these facets of education.
Our goal is to serve the society we live in, and change the world through education. This is our precise our mission. With this end in view, we aim at producing educational planners and managers, researchers, curriculum designers, material developers, textbook writers and all sorts of human resources required for the country through its different programmes. It is what motivates the work of everyone at the Faculty of Education (FoE) — from faculty, students and staff to our partners and supporters. This aim inspires our teaching and our research.
Today, we are witnessing gigantic leaps in field of information and communication technology. So, it is imperative on the part of teacher educators and policy makers to integrate ICT in education and thereby serve the societal needs and expectations. However, Nepalese education sector, particularly the higher education and teacher education, has lagged behind other areas of Nepalese economy in benefitting from the technological developments. We are aware that the effective use of educational technology can help education system work better and more effectively. Thus, we aim to make all our programmes technology enhanced.
We are teaching students how to implement innovative methods of instruction and preparing them to become effective leaders with the skills to produce cutting edge research and implement novel ideas that address real-world classroom problems. If you are a prospective student, I am excited to tell you about the programs we offer. We have B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes with specializations in English, Mathematics, Health, Nepali, Geography, Science, Economics, History, ICT, etc. We also have a newly introduced M.Ed. programme namely, Special Needs Education.
We are striving to make all our programmes practiced-based, research driven that bring change in the classroom, in education administration, and in research and policy. To make our programmes more research driven and focused, we have started offering M.Phil. leading to Ph.D. programmes in various subjects like English education, Maths education, Health education, Nepali education, etc.
